In practical magic, one of the interesting issues that can arise around results is determining whether or not the current reality has been factored into the magical working. What I mean by current reality is the reality that we’re dealing with, which we want to change. It may seem rather obvious that a person would factor the current reality of a situation into the magical working being done to address that situation. However that may not always be the case.
It is rather easy to get fixated on the desired result, because that desired result is something we want. It moves us away from the reality we’re dealing with and brings us to a reality we want to deal with. Yet there is a benefit to the current reality that we need to consider: The current reality grounds us in what is, and also informs us of the gap between what is and what we to manifest.
That gap is what we need to bridge, and we can use practical magic as one means of bridging the gap. Yet for this to occur we first must examine the reality we are in. To fully demonstrate, lets consider a practical example, in the form of job hunting.
The current reality may be the following:
You have a job, but you don’t like it and want something different.
You don’t have a job, but you want to get one so you can pay your bills.
You want a promotion or raise.
These are just a few examples of a current reality you might be dealing with. Depending on what the current reality is, it necessarily informs the motivation and anything else going into a magical working. For instance, if you have a job and you don’t like it, so you’re looking elsewhere…that experience will be very from one where you want a promotion or raise.
The emotions, the thoughts, and everything else that is relevant will be different, depending on the scenario. This is a powerful realization to have because you fundamentally recognize that your current reality does need to be considered from a number of angles that may be important for determining what you will do magically. After all a person who wants a raise will like take a very different magical approach from a person who wants to get a new job, because they hate the job they are in.
The next time you do a magical working, write out what the current reality is and then take some time to consider the various factors in that reality and how those factors can be applied to help you get the result you want. Consider as well as how those factors could work against you, so that you can turn them around to work in your favor. By examining your current reality you can fully build it into your magical working and turn it into an asset that helps you turn the desired possibility into the actual reality you want to manifest and live in.
